From Empire to Commonwealth
many countries have been associated with the Great Britain. Over the
years their relationships have changed. Some, though not all of the
countries have map stamps. I will show those that I have. Some of the
stamps have already been used in other place; I will provide links to
them. I will also provide descriptions of the relationships of the
countries to Great Britain based on those in the Scott catalogs.
In 1932 the Imperial Economic Conference took place
in Ottawa, Canada. Canada commemorated the occasion with four stamps.
Of those this one shows an allegorical design with a classical female
figure representing the British Empire seated between two hemispheres on which the
principal parts of the Empire are a darker color.
