The design of the stamp issued by the
Republic of China (Taiwan) in 1984 includes the flag of the Republic,
a white plum blossom with an outline map of China including both
Taiwan and the mainland and a blue scroll with Chinese characters. The
catalog identifies the occasion for the stamps as “Grand alliance for
China’s Reunification under the Three Principles of the People
Convention, October 16-17, 1984.”
The Three Principles of the People,
San Min Chu I, are
nationalism, democracy and social well-being were declared by Dr. Sun
Yat Sen, the first president of China, and are also the name of the
unofficial anthem of the Republic of China.
