Empire of Japan
The stamps shows the
extent of the Japanese Empire at the end of 1930 in a darker color. It
includes Japan proper, Korea, Sakhalin Island, the Kuril Islands, the
Ryukyu Islands, Nampo Shoto, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the Yap
Islands, including such islands as Okinawa, Iwo Jima, Saipan, Tinian
and Guam. The stamp was issued in 1930 with another with the same
design to mark the second census of the Japanese Empire.
Real Estate Registry
The stamp was issued
in1987 to commemorate the centennial of the registry system in Japan.
The stamp below was issued in 1991 to
recognize the International Symposium on Environmental Change and
Geographical Information. The stamp commemorates the GIS (Geographical
Information System) which developed automated mapping from data bases,
and made the exchange of computer data possiible.
