In 1995 Iceland issued a stamp to mark the centennial of the East Icelandic town of Seydisfjordur. The stamp shows a silhouette map of the Seydisfjord. The town is built on both sides of the river which enters the fjord at the point shown at the top of the stamp.
During World War II Seydisfjord was a vital part of the Allied war effort, serving as a supply port for Allied shipping.
