In 1995 Iceland
issued a stamp to mark the centennial of the East Icelandic town of
Seydisfjordur. The stamp shows a silhouette map of the Seydisfjord.
The town is built on both sides of the river which enters the fjord at
the point shown at the top of the stamp.
During World War II Seydisfjord was a vital part of the
Allied war effort, serving as a supply port for Allied shipping.
