United Nations 179
In 1961 the United Nations Secretary-General, Dag Hammarskjöld
(1905-1961), and 15 others died on a peace mission in Zambia. Marc
Chagall (1887-1985) created a stained-glass window memorializing those
who died. It was installed in the lobby of the United Nations
Secretariat in 1967. The United Nations issued the mini-sheet in 1967
to commemorate Chagall's creation, entitled "Kiss of Peace."
