Armenian Gospel 1295
In 1993 Armenia issued a set of four stamps. One has a page from a
13th century Gospel, illuminated by Hovhan (John). This is not an
uncommon Armenian name so it is not clear who this particular John
might be. The style of the illumination is also common to Armenian
manuscripts. One manuscript, Matenadaran ms 6290, is identified as a
"Gospel of 1295, and Toros the Philosopher and Hohan are identified as
the scribes of the manuscript created in Drazark.
