The Antarctic

Up Catalog

To mark ten years of Antarctic cartography Bulgaria issued a souvenir sheet in 2005 featuring a topographic map of Livingston and Greenwich Islands in the South Shetland Islands.
The pictures on the souvenir sheet from the top, left are: Ongal Peak in Levski Ridge, Tangra Mountains; a view of the Zemen Knadl; the building at St. Klimint Ohridski at Emona Anchorage, South Bay; Atanasoff Nunatak; and a view from Zeman Knadl toward Kaliakra Glacier.
The sextant is from the 19th century and refers to the history of Livingston Island as the first land discovered south of 60S. The coordinates for Livingston Island are 6239S 6023W.
