Ecuador 1141

     In 1689 Fr. Samuel Fritz mapped the territory on the upper Marañon between Peru and Quito. The map was first printed in 1707 and later a revised version was included in Condamine's report of his expedition published in Paris in 1745. Fr. Fritz died in 1728. So the dates on the stamp, 1743-1744, are incorrect for either publication. It is probable that it is an error of source.
